It takes strength to acknowledge that you want to improve areas in your life. Going to treatment allows you to look at things you want help with or desire to change your life and do the work to achieve those goals!<\/span><\/p><p>Also, asking for help does not make you weak either. We all need help from time to time. Humans are social creatures – we thrive from human connection and socializing. Getting help from another human is basically programmed within us!\u00a0<\/p><h2><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">~ “Therapy Doesn’t Work”<\/span><\/h2><p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Regardless of what doubters may say, therapy has been proven to work. For example, <\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.singlecare.com\/blog\/news\/depression-statistics\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">17.3\u00a0<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">million adults have been through at least one major depressive episode in their lifetime. Research shows that up to\u00a0<\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dbsalliance.org\/education\/depression\/statistics\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">80%<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> of people treated for depression show an improvement in their symptoms after about four to six weeks of treatment. Your Past can be a Therapy Topic<\/span><\/h2><p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Think about your past. Ask yourself these questions:<\/span><\/p><ul><li><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">How was my childhood?<\/span><\/li><li><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Did I have a healthy upbringing? What memories come up when I think of my parents or siblings?<\/span><\/li><li><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Did I experience any traumatic instances or trauma in my life?<\/span><\/li><\/ul><p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">As mentioned in our article about healing your inner child, reports showed that there are\u00a0<\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.acf.hhs.gov\/cb\/report\/child-maltreatment-2019\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">“656,000 (rounded) victims of child abuse and neglect”<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0in the United States.\u00a0<\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.childwelfare.gov\/topics\/responding\/iia\/types-can\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Reports<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> also indicate that abuse comes in many forms: neglect, physical, sexual, or emotional abuse.
