Baiqian Zhang is a mental health counselor licensed in NY and NJ. She is also a supervisor for psychology interns and provisional licensed therapists at Mind Connections. In Baiqian’s eyes, therapy is a journey towards a more meaningful and satisfying life. Her therapy approach is collaborative and integrative, guided by training in CBT, REBT, DBT, IPT, psychodynamic interventions, and drama therapy.
She has rich experience working with adults, adolescents, couples, and families across different settings, including an outpatient community mental health clinic, a hospital, and a university counseling center.
Her utilization of creative arts in the session helps make the therapeutic process more tolerable, enjoyable, and fun for her clients.
Baiqian earned her B.A. in Psychology from Stony Brook University with a minor in Korean Studies and obtained her M.A. in Counseling for Mental Health and Wellness from New York University.
Before entering the field of psychology, Baiqian was a dancer specializing in Chinese classical and folk dance. Her dancing experience, in combination with her extensive mindfulness training, formed her expertise in embodiment and cultivating mind-body harmony.
Baiqian is experienced in treating a wide range of psychological struggles, including but not limited to anxiety, depression, stress, trauma, interpersonal skills, relationship conflicts, grief, self-image, and developmental challenges.
She is proficient in bilingual English/Chinese counseling and has a strong working knowledge of Korean and Korean culture.
